VERSYS VS. BOB

The training partner for when you don't have a training partner

Century's BOB XL is our bestselling product, the premiere freestanding bag. Century has also developed a hybrid bag using their "Versys" bag bottom and a BOB XL torso with the BOB jacket and arms.

Versys VS. BOB

This hybrid combines the best features from both the Versys and BOB lines to create the most versatile freestanding bag available anywhere.

There are so many training applications for using the Versys VS. BOB that we don't know where to start!

There is a full BOB XL torso and head for kicking and hand strikes common in striking arts like Karate and Taekwondo, as well as the classic BOB XL face for practising eye gouges and throat and neck strikes.

The vinyl torso jacket has arms with soft internal padding. These can be used for trapping drills common in kung fu or for practising arm locks common in stand-up grappling arts like Ju-Jitsu, Judo, Hapkido, and Aikido. The arms can also be grasped to set up entry into throwing and sweeping techniques.

For boxers and others who want to develop their hand skills, the arms also allow you to work on bobbing, weaving, parrying, and other moves involving working around an opponent's arms.

Versys VS. BOB stands about 1.8 m tall on three dense foam legs. The legs' tripod stance allows you to work on inside and outside leg kicks, knee attacks, and groin shots. For this reason, the VS. BOB is popular in self-defence and tactical styles like Krav Maga. For ground-based styles like BJJ, you can work on your sweeps and takedowns from the ground against a standing opponent.

Versys VS BOB

Three sections that form a triangle connecting his feet and weighted with sandbags keep the Versys VS. BOB upright and sturdy. Each sandbag weighs about 15kg when full.

Having had a Versys VS. BOB in my own martial arts school for over five years, I have found that the sandbags are a bit fragile and can start to perish and leak sand after time. I have also found that even with full sandbags, the base is a bit too light and unstable at times.

However, I had new bags made in a heavier vinyl material. You can use them with the sandbags provided with the Versys VS. BOB or just fill them with a material of your choice.

We have found that rounded river stone pebbles add more weight and stability to the base.
